The BBC have launched a new calculator, which allows you to compare your salary with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and Lionel Messi.
According to the Office of National Statistics, the average salary in the UK in 2014 was £27,271. Apparently, it would take Ronaldo 15 minutes to earn the average UK employees’ weekly salary! Someone earning the average UK annual salary would take 678 years to earn Ronaldo’s annual wage – is Ronaldo worth 678 times as much as you?
The situation is a bit better if you are lucky enough to be an aircraft pilot – you have the third highest average salary at £90,146. It would only take a pilot 205 years to earn Ronaldo’s annual wage!
Further down the scale, a receptionist on an average salary of £12,543 would have to answer telephones for a mind boggling 1,475 years, to catch up with the lucky Ronaldo’s annual wage.
