Property Advice

2024 is a big year for Macleod & MacCallum – it’s our 60th anniversary. That’s 60 years of providing legal and property advice to clients throughout the Highlands and Islands.

Our Property Department, provide an expert and professional service from a local team with over 50 years’ experience.  They offer the best possible advice and assistance, with meticulous attention to detail from the first point of contact through to the completion of your sale. We pride ourselves on our traditional values with a modern proactive approach.  There are no hidden extras – total transparency from start to finish.

We appreciate how stressful selling your property can be – a house move is ranked in the top 5 most stressful events in your life, and so our aim is to make the process as seamless and easy as possible for you. To this end, we can offer accompanied viewings, including evening and weekend viewings, within our competitively priced marketing package, which also includes registration with the Highland Solicitors Property Centre, ‘Right Move’, and ‘On the Market’ along with a display on our own website, a 360-degree video tour of your property, professionally produced brochures with attractive photos, a For Sale board and regular displays on our social media platforms.

Over the last year, we have sold more than £28 million worth of property, making us, once again, one of the leading agents in the area.

2023 saw a slight slowdown in the property market, with the number of sales in the Highlands down 19% compared to the previous year.  However, prices have remained stable, with prices in the Highlands increasing by 1.9% in 2023. Our average achieved price exceeded the Home Report value by 2.9% last year.

Going forward, there are predictions for a reasonable upturn in the market, with perhaps a 4% increase in the number of sales and prices increasing by something in the region of 1.5%. There will be a number of factors affecting the market conditions, but these rises will no doubt be partly due to the ongoing reduction in interest rates and inflation hopefully continuing to decline in line with government predictions.

Given the positive predictions for the coming year, there seems no better time to consider getting your property on the market in time for Spring, a traditionally busy time of year for property sales.
