National recognition for award-winning family law team
OVER the last 50 years Macleod & MacCallum has developed from a small partnership to a progressive legal, financial and property services company based in the heart of Inverness serving clients throughout the Highlands and Islands. Over the past three years Macleod & MacCallum’s family law team has been recognised as one of the best in Scotland for its delivery of quality family law advice to clients experiencing relationship breakdown. In 2015 Macleod & MacCallum won Family Law Firm of the Year at the Law Awards of Scotland in recognition of the work carried out by the family law team.
This achievement was consolidated in 2016 when the family law team was awarded Team of the Year by the Highland Business Women’s Club at its annual awards. To add to these achievements, Macleod & MacCallum has now been selected as finalists for Family Law Team of the Year in the Scottish Legal Awards 2017. The Scottish Legal Awards recognise exceptional legal service and expertise on a national level. This category has attracted strong competitionfrom large central belt firms and Macleod & MacCallum is delighted to be acknowledged for its provision of expert family law advice to clients in the Highlands and Islands.
The family law team comprises directors, Morag MacIntosh and Fiona Campbell, associates Jenna Thomson and Scott Dallas together with highly experienced support staff, making it the largest and most specialised family law team based in the Highlands. Morag, who chairs the board of directors, said:
“Our team recognises that clients seeking advice on family law issues may be struggling to cope with relationship breakdown and the stress that brings.”
“We know some clients find themselves in situations which are not of their choosing, and they would rather be anywhere else than sitting in a lawyer’s office! We believe it is essential that our clients have confidence in us as their family lawyers and at Macleod & MacCallum we know that confidence is well placed.”
Morag and Fiona are both accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as family law specialists and Fiona is also accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a family law mediator and is an accredited family law arbitrator. All four of the family law solicitors are qualified collaborative lawyers. This means that the team can offer clients the full range of dispute resolution options available to clients dealing with separation, child law or divorce including mediation, collaboration and arbitration as well as court action.
Every client’s situation is different and the key is to try and minimise where possible the negative emotional and financial consequences that often result in relationship breakdown and to tailor services to meet individual client’s needs.
The nomination for family law team 2017 also recognises the innovative approach the team has adopted in their delivery of expert advice to clients in the diverse geographical area of the Highlands and Islands. The team makes good use of social media and technology including a Skype suite, recognising the way in which an ever increasing number of clients want to access information and advice. The team also take their corporate social responsibility very seriously and are committed to providing training and to sharing their expertise with charities and community groups.
The greatest strength, however, of the family law team is the enthusiasm and commitment which each team member has for dealing with clients. Every client is an individual with their own particular circumstances and whilst the team never knowswhat new challenges a day will hold what theydo know, is that with the combined experience,
expertise and commitment of the team they are able to advise their clients and provide solutions that are best for them.On behalf of the team, Morag stated:
“We would like to acknowledge the fantastic backing we have received from clients and other partners and referrers in volunteering their testimonials in support of our nomination to be Scotland’s Family Law Team of the Year in 2017.”
