Property On The Up?
06 November 2009
Recent statistics issued by the Highland Solicitors Property Centre (HSPC) shows a brighter picture for the Highland property market compared to 12 months ago.
HSPC, which showcases the majority of Highland properties available for sale, sold a total of 138 properties during October 2009, compared to 91 properties sold 12 months previously – a 52% increase. The total value of properties sold was £22.5m, as opposed to £17.2m previously.
It is encouraging that more properties are indeed selling, although perhaps on a more negative side, the average house price through HSPC for October 2009 was £163,181, compared to October 2008 of £189,406, giving a decrease of 14%. Of course, this does reflect a national trend, and indeed is perhaps not as large a decrease as other areas.
It is also encouraging to note that the number of website enquiries through the HSPC website has increased by 12% on the same period 12 months ago. It certainly does give some hope that the purchasers are out there.
These recent statistics reflect the national situation as house sales across Scotland reached their highest level in 17 months in October, with a rise of 10.1 per cent in properties sold.
Macleod & MacCallum continue to sell more properties through the Highland Solicitors Property Centre than any other firm of solicitors in Scotland, having sold nearly 20% of all properties sold by HSPC in October 2009.
