Making a Will

Making a Will is one way of ensuring that your money and possessions will be dealt with in accordance with your wishes after your death. If you do not leave a Will, it is possible that the results might have disastrous consequences for your family or close partner and your money may not end up where you intended!

It is important that you obtain legal advice on the preparation of a Will to ensure that your wishes are properly implemented.

In your Will, you will require to nominate "Executors", who are the people who will look after your estate after your death and are responsible for carrying out your instructions. You may appoint your spouse, children, relatives or friends or a Solicitor, as Executors.

Of course, the most important part of your Will is deciding to whom your estate will be left - amongst your family, left to charity, etc.

When preparing a Will, this is an ideal time to calculate any potential liability for inheritance tax, and your Will can be a vital device in minimising any amount of tax you will be required to pay. We will be able to advise you fully in this matter.
