Legal Aid

The Legal Aid services in Scotland are comprehensive and cover most matters in which you might require the services of a Solicitor. If you do require our services and your means are fairly modest, it is possible that you will be eligible for legal aid. Legal Aid allows people who cannot otherwise afford it to gain legal assistance.

Even if you are granted legal aid it is possible you might have to pay part of the cost of your case, depending on your income and capital and the type of help you receive. You might be required to pay a contribution towards your case and you will be told how much before you are granted legal aid. If you win any money or property as a result of the work carried out for you through legal aid, you might have to pay back the cost of your case. If you lose the case, you might have to pay the other parties costs.
