Macleod & MacCallum have a wealth of knowledge and substantial experience in acting for and assisting crofting estate clients throughout the Highlands and Islands, including community-owned estates.
We can advise on all aspects of crofting estates, including:
- compiling and maintaining records of all crofts within the estate
- negotiating croft sales with tenants
- negotiating the sale of the statutory croft house sites
- protecting an estate’s sporting interests by setting up sporting leases
- submitting Resumption Applications to the Scottish Land Court (SLC) where the estate wishes to take land back in hand for non-crofting purposes
- submitting fair rent applications on behalf of the landlord to the SLC
- developing a coherent crofting policy for the estate
We can also advise crofting communities who are seeking to purchase croft land under the Crofting Community Right to Buy.
