Croft Purchase From an Estate or Landlord
We have a large crofting client base throughout the Highlands and Islands, from the Shetland Islands to the Isle of Tiree. We have acted for a large number of former croft tenants who have bought their crofts since the introduction of the so-called “Right to Buy” by the Crofting Reform (Scotland) Act 1976. With our proven track record on successfully negotiating croft purchases on behalf of clients, we are ideally placed to provide you with advice on every aspect of your croft purchase.
We can advise on all aspects of a croft purchase, including the initial negotiations with your landlord or his or her land agent, identifying the croftland you are entitled to buy (including any apportionments), agreeing the terms of the contract between the you and the landlord and the terms of the title deed in your favour. The various steps involved in the purchase of a croft are summarised in our Client Briefing.
We can also make a Croft Purchase Application on your behalf to the Scottish Land Court.
